The Santa Cruz branch of Kampgrounds of America is a popular stop between the coastal route from Big Sur and the city of San Francisco. I spent the evening in this relaxed and family-friendly campground following a big day exploring the majestic 17 Mile Drive between Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea.
The facilities are excellent - with a huge laundry, kitchen, playground, games room, mini golf, and a brand new pool and hot tub. If you're traveling with young road trippers I can assure you they'll never be bored!
There is a very well-equipped convenience store at check-in that has all the supplies you'll ever need for a great stay. Plus, the people looking after the campground are absolutely lovely and so helpful - I found this across all KOAs that I stayed at and it is always so nice after a long day of driving to have a chat about your day and adventures!
Because the JUCY doesn't require powered hook-ups to run, you have a few options when you're booking your campsite. You can either stay in a non-powered tent site - this is usually the cheapest option, and if there are good facilities you can charge your laptops etc in the common areas (don't forget your JUCY comes with 4 USB ports, so you can charge your phone via those). Or, you can stay in a powered tent site - I preferred these as I was able to set up my laptop and do some work in the evenings, and as long as it wasn't raining I could put my laptop cable out the car window and connect it to the charging station while watching movies in the vehicle. At the Santa Cruz KOA, the tent sites were nice and spacious and included a picnic table and fire pit at each site, so I was very comfortable.
There were also spaces for huge RVs and cabins if you are wanting a proper bed for the night.
Don't forget that all JUCY customers get 10% off at all KOA locations just by showing their keys! It's one of our favorite JUCY Perks and another reason why you should rent a JUCY for your next road trip!
